Vocal Coach on Christmas Filmset
It's funny how life can surprise you in unexpected ways, isn't it?
Through my website the producers from Czar Amsterdam Film Productions found me. Google matched my work as a "Vocal Coach" with the search term "Filmset", from my work as an actress. The two combined got me a job as a vocal coach on a filmset of a Christmas commercial. So much fun! I got to coach the actors with their vocal parts, singing the Christmas song "Carol of the Bells" on set. Helping them find the right key and hit the right notes.
Snow machines were covering the filmset with snow as we sang the notes in front of an idyllic old toy shop. It was such a pleasure to work with director Aaron van Valen who also directed the crime series "Mocro Maffia" for Videoland. And most recently the tv series "Sleepers".
Here's the end result of the commercial. Even though we sang a lot on set, most of the singing was cut out in the edit in the end. That's ofcourse out of my hands. But for me it was still worth it, since it was wonderful to be on a filmset again. This time not as an actress, but as a vocal coach. How life can throw you a curve ball, ey? Expect the unexpected.
P.S. Did you know that...
The melody of 'Carol of the Bells" was originally a folk song intended to be a winter melody of good wishes. The composer Leontovych named it Shchedryk in his initial Ukrainian form. The tale is of a swallow flying into a home, to predict a wonderful year ahead for the family staying there. I wish that to all of you for Christmas and the New Year.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
With love,
Dieuwke
